Aggressive Dog Warning Signs
Every dog has the ability to bite if driven to that point. A good thing for us dog owners is that dogs will almost always give you a few warning signs for acting aggressive. These warnings signs will tell anyone near him that he is not in a good mood so you better back off. If a dog is going to become aggressive they will often times growl, snap, show their teeth, or have their ears pinned back. Some other typical signs of approaching aggression can include a hard stare with large eyes, panting, a stiff body, or hair standing up on their back.
If your dog is showing any of these signs DO NOT punish him for it. Punishing a dog for giving you a warning sign will show him you don't care about his warning signals. That means in the future your dog won't give you any signs and will just attack without warning. By yelling at an aggressive dog you can almost encouraging his aggressive behavior. Dog react to your reactions. If you get really emotional, and scream and yell, your dog will respond with his own high emotions. He may not be doing it to harm you because he is just matching your emotional high.
If your dog is fearful, anxious, or nervous by nature yelling at him for will only cause more fear in him and this will lead to aggressive behavior and possible injury to you or others. If you have an aggressive dog please act fast to correct this problem. Not only will an aggressive dog endanger you and your family, but you can run into legal issues with an aggressive dog, which could lead to you having to put your beloved dog down.
Every expert dog trainer will always recommend new dog owners start their dog obedience training early. The right time to start training your pup is anywhere between birth and 6 months of age. Being able to train your dog by the 6 month mark is crucial to your dogs future behavior. By socializing your young puppy to many different types of people and other animals, your dog will understand that people are good. It will teach your dog not to fear people and therefore help reduce the risk of aggressive dog behavior.
If your dog does happen to display aggressive behavior what you should do is let out a loud, firm "No". Remember you do not want to yell, but you want to be firm and try not to let your emotions get to high. Once you get your dogs attention with the firm "No", then you an perform what is called a "time-out". A time-out is when you place your dog in a room and close the door for about 30 seconds to a minute. After a few times you dog will comprehend that when you acts out he will be put away from you, the pack leader, and he will correct his behavior.
While your dog is playing with his toys, it is never a good idea to start a "tug-of-war" game with him. All this game does is encourage your dogs aggressive behavior. Your dog will think that this type of aggressive behavior is appropriate and continue it.
If your dog is aggressive towards other dogs while on a leash, one tip is to give a firm tug on the leash, or a firm "No" to get his attention. You want your dog to look up at you and away from the other dog. You want him to understand aggression towards other canines is not healthy behavior.

My husband and I bought this boxer about 2 weeks ago. He is about a year old and we heard that the people we got him from used to abuse him. When we went to go and pick him up, he was very skinny, and whenever the husband would raise his voice, he would tuck in his ears, and go in a corner. we've ran across a couple problems with the dog. he was horrible on the leash, but that is getting a little better. but he is very aggressive towards his food and other dogs. he as snapped at my husband and i, and a few friends that have came over. he also bit a couple as well. i dont want to give up on the dog, since he has gone through hell with the previous family, but i am really running out of things to do. he lunged at me earlier when i was trying to walk him downstairs to take him outside, and it scared the crap out of me! i can really use any advice anyone has. we just moved to germany because of the miltary. i've called a couple obedience schools for dogs here but they don't speak english.
First question, why did you take this dog into your home? Felt sorry for it?
This is an animal with teeth and has the potential to inflict serious harm on you and yours. Unless you are very experienced in dealing with these types of dogs i cannot see how or why you would choose to get this dog.
If there are no trainers there (the dog has bitten people - it has gone past the stage for 'classes') you need to have this dog PTS.
Do not attempt to re-home, this dog should not become someone else's problem. Aggressive dogs with a bite record are very often PTS in shelters anyway.
He has snapped at both you and your husband, threatened your safety and that of your friends. Get the dog out of your house asap. I just hope there are no kids in your home.

The German Shepherd Dog is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany. German Shepherds are a relatively new breed of dog, whose origins date to 1899. As part of the Herding group, the German Shepherd is a working dog developed originally for herding sheep. Because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training they are often employed in police and military roles, in forces around the world. Due to their loyal and protective nature the German Shepherd is one of the most registered of breeds.

In Europe, during the 1800s, attempts were being made to standardize breeds. The dogs were bred to preserve traits that assisted in their job of herding sheep and protecting flocks from predators. In Germany this was practiced within local communities, where shepherds selected and bred dogs that they believed had traits necessary for herding sheep, such as intelligence, strength, and keen senses of smell. The results were dogs that were able to perform admirably in their task, but that differed significantly, both in appearance and ability, from one locality to another.
To combat these differences, the Phylax Society was formed in 1891 with the intention of creating standardised dog breeds in Germany. The society disbanded after only three years due to an ongoing, internal conflict regarding the traits that the society should promote; some members believed dogs should be bred solely for working purposes, while others believed dogs should be bred also for appearance. While unsuccessful in their goal, the Phylax Society had inspired people to pursue standardising dog breeds independently.

You know all cats have attitude right? I think that's a well accepted fact. It's also a fact that cats have quite individual personalities that set them apart from other pets. They are independent and selfish. The question is, are they reflecting their owner, or is it just a part of their particular breed?
If you try to compare them with say, Pit Bull Terriers. Its true that this is an aggressive breed of dog, and, whilst they can be calm when with their owner, when they are off leash, well anything can happen. Compare them to, say, a Golden Labrador and youll see what a difference a breed makes. Is it the same with cats. Are tabby cats the angriest? Or black cats, do they own the title?
Im happy to tell you that it has nothing to do with color, breed, or length of coat. Its just a part of their little personalities. You wont be able to predict it but you will get an idea from their early behavior. A small percentage of cats develop anti-social behavior and simply dont like being petted. In fact its a bit like being a human isnt it?
Do You Have The Angriest Cat?
I think it is helpful to think of an angry cat as a little human. What do you do to cure the temper tantrums. Well here are some steps and points you might want to consider:
1. Try to create and maintain a calm environment. Your new kitty can form some early habits based on early experiences. If the household has calm feeing there is a reduced likelihood of anxiety.
2. Give your new housemate some time to settle in. If he/she wants to hide under the bed, you can bet there may be a good reason, so let her stay there and come out when she wants to.
3. Remember that kitty is a sensitive creature by nature and can be easily spooked. If she doesn't have the confidence to mix with the rest of the family immediately, a little time could be all that is required.
4. Even after the passage of time, perhaps kitty still wants time alone. This is normal in all animals including humans, so allow kitty time alone if thats what she is seeking.
5. Remember that kitty may just be shy. People can be and so can cats. You may just have to accept kitty the way she is and leave her alone.
6. If you have adopted your cat and find that she is having difficulty settling in, remember her history may not have been a happy one and she is acting on past experiences whatever they may have been.
